Intelligent Design is Testable

On this episode of ID: The Future, CSC Fellow Jonathan Witt explains how Intelligent Design is testable, contrary to the objections of critics. He discusses predictions from biology and astrobiology, and points listeners to an extended list of testable ID predictions available online.

Casey Luskin Champions Intelligent Design at Apologetics 315

Today’s ID the Future features Apologetics 315 podcast hosts Brian Auten and Chad Gross interviewing scientist Casey Luskin about the past, present, and exciting future of the intelligent design movement. Here in Part 1, Luskin tells how he got into ID movement, gives the back story on the birth of a promising intelligent design research program known as ID 3.0, and relates how he ended up rushing back from his geology work in South Africa at the front end of the Covid-19 pandemic to rejoin Discovery Institute. From there Auten and Gross push Luskin to provide a clear, easily grasped definition of intelligent design and to explain how it differs from creationism. Luskin also makes the case that intelligent design is science. It’s based on physical evidence rather than religious revelation, he notes, and it makes testable predictions. Tune in to hear two examples he gives of such predictions, and stay tuned for Part 2 of their discussion. This Apologetics 315 episode is presented here with permission from Gross and Auten.

Intelligent Design Predictions for the Fossil Record and “Junk” DNA

What does the fossil record tell us about intelligent design? And what does intelligent design predict when it comes to “junk”-DNA? On this episode of ID the Future, Casey Luskin explores more of intelligent design’s testable predictions in a recent talk he gave at the University of Arkansas.

The Positive Case for Intelligent Design and Why It’s Being Expelled from Academia

On this episode of ID the Future we’re featuring an excerpt from an Academic Freedom Day talk given by Casey Luskin at the University of Arkansas. The talk is titled “The Positive Case for Intelligent Design and Why It’s Being Expelled from Academia,” and in this first of two parts, Luskin gives two positive, testable predictions of ID that are confirmed by the empirical data.

Is There a Double Standard When It Comes to ID and Testability?

When ID skeptics object to the arguments of ID proponents that the incredible fine tuning of the universe is evidence for design they often turn to speculating about an infinite number of universes in which ours just happened to win the cosmic lottery and evolve to sustain life. Is that hypothesis testable? Is it science? CSC’s Casey Luskin explores whether or not there is a double standard in the wider scientific community when it comes to intelligent design and testability.

The Testability Double Standard

When ID skeptics object to the claim that the universe was designed based upon the highly improbable fine tuning of the universe, they often invoke multiple universes, a concept that is not testable. Yet testability is often invoked as a demarcation criteria that excludes intelligent design from science. In this podcast Casey Luskin takes us through the pages of a science journal to show the double standard applied to intelligent design.
