On this episode of ID The Future we present a short clip of senior fellow Dr. Michael Behe at the 2006 Intelligent Design Under Fire conference where he talks about the acceptance of intelligent design based on misinformation and stereotypes as promoted by the media. He contrasts the current status of intelligent design with that of Big Bang theory in the beginning of the 20th century, when many scientists refused to accept Big Bang theory because they didn’t like the philosophical implications.

Recently, at the CSC 10th Anniversary Dinner, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to spend a wonderful evening with CSC senior fellow, and author of Darwin’s Black Box, Michael Behe along with nationally syndicated radio commentator Michael Medved. Medved interviewed Behe for nearly an hour and gave us all a unique look at Behe as a biochemist, a professor and an author. In this clip, Medved asks Behe how it is he came to be a dissenter from Darwin’s theory of evolution.

This episode features an interview with Lehigh University professor and biochemist Dr. Michael Behe about intelligent design and the bacterial flagellum. Dr. Behe discusses a recent article in Nature Reviews Microbiology which claims that the flagellum could evolve. Dr. Behe analyzes the arguments about the flagellum and finds that they do not support Darwin’s theory.

Ten years ago, biochemist Michael Behe helped to launch the modern intelligent design movement. when he outlined the theory of irreducible complexity in his book Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution, which dared to question the basic tenets of Darwinism.

Arguing that unintelligent accounts failed to explain the development of irreducibly complex systems such as blood clotting, the human immune system and the bacterial flagellum, Darwin’s Black Box was internationally reviewed in over one hundred publications and named one of the 100 most important books of the 20th century by National Review and World magazine. There are now a quarter million copies in print.
